I always thought about it. It's weird how we learn english beginning from writing, u know? Since it's the last thing we learn in our own language.
I think it's difficult to improve the listening because it's also dificult to find time to really listen to it, u know? For example I study at morning and night…so I just have the afternoon to study english, but, of course, I have another things to do such as homework, clean the house and I also need to study to get in a good university (I'm 17).
The last tip you gave about podcast helped me so much. Now I'm listening podcasts in my mp4 player and it has helped a lot.
Hey, you are an excellente teacher! A professional that deserves to be respect. Congrats! It's dificult to find people like you.

Hi, David.
This is the truth. All of us learn our mother language listening since when we are babies. Afterwards we can go to the school to learn grammar, but we speak fluently into the our family.

Something like that happened with me…
Before i study english, i liked so much to listen music, but i didn't understand anything
Only recalling the sounds of the music, without to listen again, i understood the lyrics of the sounds…
I thought that is awesome…

Jaédson, LISTENING é uma das habilidades básicas relacionadas a qualquer idioma, isto é, a capacidade que um indivíduo tem de compreender aquilo que ouve, do ponto de vista de significado (semântica).

Se vc notar, ele diz q o listening é provavelmente o mais difícil pra quem aprende uma nova lígua, mas, como o David disse, é uma questão de prática, de treinar o seu ouvido, e isso OUVINDO MUUUUUUUUITO.

I completely agree!!!! Though I believe it’s not so easy too, ‘cos, as grown-up learners, we don’t start from so early like native kids do and we haven’t got so much time to learn every single, little word as they do either. Yet, yes, it’s just a matter of PRACTICE: we need to try to (1) take some time during the week to carefully listen and (2) be in touch with the language as much as we can by just relaxing and listening to it – even if in a uncompromised manner, like just listening to music or playing podcasts as we go to work/school.

I got friends who say they want to learn English, and I tell them they gotta (like David said) listen over and over and over and they fail on doing it… But, boy, there’s no way to do it but to start doing something. (Like the ‘worst thing on learning’ challenge, the poorest thing you can do is do nothing.)

Another thing I might emphasize is to listen to issues you like the most. It really helps you absorb it much better.

All we need to do is to be surrounded by the language and let it become a natural, normal part of our day-by-day. Learning shall become much more enjoyable and flow so easily we won’t even notice… Actually, we’ll see that it’s very FUNNY!!!!
